Today we leave Jamaica excited for all our future plans to help the kids there and sad to leave our old and new friends and the beautiful island. Apparently it snowed and is cold in Eugene but it was the thought of coming home to the U.S. with all its political madness and human tragedy right now that made it so I couldnt help but cry as we arrived back in Florida. The financial poverty in Jamaica is very sad and their struggle to deal with crime is hard too but the overall consciousness of the people there, the general sense of “one love” and the sheer beauty of their simplified way of livin is the ultimate appeal for me. Americans just seem self absorbed in comparison. That was my impression arriving back here…
A couple of the kids at the school I remember by name because they were so completely curious and made such an impression on my heart. So many beautiful faces with their whole future in front of them. Helping this school is changing lives! We walked to the main road with the kindergarten teacher when we left the last time and their neighborhood is one that is so obviously in need. The cool thing about doing good things is that many times you never know how much difference you really make. I see the repercussions of this great work as endless because improving the lives of our future generations is imperative worldwide. Our earth needs intelligent kind and caring adults and this little school is very much doing it’s part to create opportunities for these children to become positive community members. We are honored to help in any way we can and thank Nima’s Wish Foundation for giving us a chance to be a part of this.
